Who are the people you’d most like to have in your network? While everyone else is influence-chasing, focus on building real relationships with people who matter to you. Think about your personal board of directors “dream team.” Your list should include potential executive mentors, trusted recruiters, and professionals in your target roles. But don’t overlook great connectors in other roles: people who are active in professional associations, executive assistants, chiefs of staff, and rising stars. Seek these folks out, treat them with respect, and ask how you might help them in the short or long term.
